The Mariners (5-7, 0-0 GNAC) open conference play at home on Saturday, March 29, with a doubleheader against Saint Joseph's College (ME). The Vikings (7-7, 0-0 MASCAC) will try to keep it rolling with a pair of games at home against Fitchburg State University on Saturday, March 29.
Game 1 – Salem St. 2, Mitchell 1
The Vikings struck first in the opening game of the day, pushing a run across in the bottom of the second on an RBI groundout. After a scoreless inning and a half, the Mariners knotted the score in the fourth when junior Olivia DeCicco (Haverhill, Mass.) led off with an infield single, advanced to third on a Brooke Whitmarsh (Portsmouth, R.I.) triple, and then came home on an RBI groundout by senior Christina Housley (Norfolk, VA).
The score would remain knotted at 1-1 until the bottom of the seventh, when Emily Henning hit a leadoff double. After she was pinch run for, a single advanced the runner to third, and she came around for the game winning run on a fielder's choice off the bat of Samantha Gaona-Sullivan.

The Vikings were quick to punch back, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the first against Mitchell starter, Olivia DeCicco, before scoring their third run of the game the following inning on an RBI groundout by Abigail Richardson.
