NECC Softball Championship Bracket Announced
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Mitchell College will be the second seed in the 2012 New England Collegiate Conference Softball Championship and will host a first round game, as announced by the conference on Sunday night.
Lesley University finished the regular season 18-0 and earned the top seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference Softball Championship. The Lynx (25-10 overall, 18-0 NECC) earned a first round bye and will host the weekend tournament at Wellesley College begining Friday, May 4.
Mitchell (19-13, 16-2 NECC) earned the second seed and will play Becker College (10-28, 7-11 NECC) in a first round game on Tuesday, May 1. Daniel Webster College (20-17, 12-6 NECC) will be the tournament's third seed and will host sixth-seeded Regis College (8-23, 8-10 NECC) while fifth seed Bay Path College (14-25, 9-9 NECC) will travel to fourth seed Elms College (14-17, 10-8 NECC) for a first round matchup.
First round games will be played on Tuesday, May 1 at the higher seed. Winners will advance to the double-elimination tournament hosted by Lesley and played at Wellesley College on Friday, May 4-6.
The top seven teams qualify for the NECC Championship. Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical conference winning percentages. Game times and dates are subject to change.
