Softball Duo Grabs NECC Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass. -- A pair of Mitchell College softball players were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday morning.
Senior Laurissa Amaker was named NECC Player of the Week for the first time in her career. Freshman Katelyn Lipsky was tabbed NECC Rookie of the Week, earning the distinction for the second week in a row. The duo most recently helped Mitchell to a doubleheader split against Norwich University.
Amaker, an outfielder, batted .400 with a team-high six RBI over four games last week. She hit safely and drove in runs in all four games. In a doubleheader at Johnson & Wales University she plated four runs and scored twice while recording a pair of hits. She then knocked in runs in each game of a doubleheader split against Norwich.
Lipsky picked up a win in the circle last week for the Mariners against Norwich. In that game she allowed only one run on three hits over 7.0 innings and tied a season high with eight strikeouts. At the plate she hit .273 for the week and knocked in a pair of runs, reaching base in all four games in which she played.
Mitchell (2-4 overall) will next host Trinity College on Tuesday, March 23 at 3 p.m.
