LAX's Sullivan Named NECC Player of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Mitchell College junior Shane Sullivan was named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the sport of men's lacrosse, as announced by the conference on Monday morning.
Sullivan finished with five goals and three assists as Mitchell remained unbeaten in NECC play last week with a 14-6 victory at Regis College. He netted four of Mitchell's first six goals as the game was tied at 6-6 heading into the final quarter. He then assisted on the three goals—including the game winner—and added another score in the fourth quarter as the Mariners outscored the Pride 8-0 in the stanza. Sullivan finished with a pair of man-up goals in the contest and also scooped up a ground ball.
After missing the first five games of the season due to injury, Sullivan has racked up six goals and six assists in the two games since his return to the lineup. He becomes the third Mitchell player to receive player of the week honors this season, joining classmates Peter Eshenfelder (March 11) and Demetre Lyras (March 18).
Mitchell (5-2 overall, 2-0 NECC) will next host SUNY Cobleskill on Wednesday, March 27 at 7 p.m.
