LAX Falls at Lebanon Valley
ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College men's lacrosse team scored 14 goals on an impressive 56 shots in a 14-5 win over Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon at Arnold Field.
The Dutchmen controlled the contest from the opening faceoff to the final horn. A 4-0 first period set the tone as the Valley used two goals from Andrew Dennison and a marker apiece from Ryan Lanigan and Malik Pedroso to put Mitchell in a hole early.
The Mariners finally got on the board to open the second quarter on a goal by junior A.J. Fialkowski, but LVC hit right back with three straight, including two more from Pedroso to open up the lead to 7-1. The Mariners never got closer than a five-goal deficit from thereon out as the Valley cruised to its first win of the year.
Pedroso led the attack with four goals on the day, while Dennison and Matt Aldridge each posted two goals for the Valley. Mitchell seniors David Klapp and Demtre Lyras also tallied two goals apiece.
LVC held the edge in most of the statistical categories, most defining being a 56-25 advantage in shots. Ground balls favored LVC at 40-26, while Mitchell won 12 of the 23 faceoffs. However, the Mariners committed 28 turnovers compared to 19 for the Dutchmen.
Mike Moll and Kevin Krasely patrolled the cage for the Valley, making 12 saves combined for the win. Moll stopped four Mariner shots while Krasely stopped eight. Freshman JD LeMay was impressive between the pipes for Mitchell, making 21 saves in the loss.
Mitchell (2-2 overall) will next host SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m.
