Wiley Nabs Third Straight NECC Rookie of the Week Honor
MARSHFIELD, Mass. – For the third straight week, Mitchell College freshman Amina Wiley was named New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the sport of women's basketball, as announced by the league on Tuesday morning.
Wiley averaged team highs of 18.0 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game as the Mariners posted a 2-1 mark in league action. She recorded a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds to go with five steals, four assists and a pair of blocks in a win over Eastern Nazarene College to start the week. After finishing with 20 points and seven boards in a loss at Becker College, she turned in 16 points, 15 rebounds, three steals and two blocks in a road win over Dean College. Wiley shot 64.9 percent for the week and finished at 70 percent or higher against both Becker (75.0) and Dean (70.0).
Wiley has played in 15 games and made 14 starts this season and is averaging team highs of 15.8 points and 10.6 rebound per game. She currently ranks fourth in the NECC in rebounding and fifth in scoring.
Mitchell (10-6 overall, 9-1 NECC) will next host New England College later today at 6 p.m.
