Women's Soccer Beats Daniel Webster in Regular Season Finale

NASHUA, N.H. - Sophomore Leslie Briggs notched a goal and
assist, including the eventual game-winning strike midway through
the second half, to lead Mitchell College past host Daniel Webster
College, 2-1, in the New England Collegiate Conference regular
season finale for both clubs Saturday at Eagle Field.
Mitchell's victory sets up a rematch between the two
squads in the quarterfinal round of the
NECC Championship. The third-seeded Mariners (6-10 overall,
6-2 NECC) will host the sixth-seeded Eagles (5-10, 3-5 NECC)
on Tuesday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m.
The winner will advance to the semifinals on Thursday,
November 5. The championship takes place on Saturday, November 7 at
1:00 p.m.
Kacie Lang gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead, knocking home a Rachel
Schelhorn pass 20:54 into the contest for her fourth
goal of the season.
Mitchell would tie it with just under two minutes to go in the
first half, with Briggs setting up sophomore Nikki Hoxie in
front for her 13th of the year. The teams went into the break tied
at 1-1.
Briggs would net her fifth goal of the season for the game winner
in the 58th minute. It was her first game-winning goal of the
season.
Eagle net minder Amy Waller sparkled, making 10 saves, while
sophomores Brittany O'Neil and Rachel Cunningham split duties in
goal for Mitchell, combining for one save.
