NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 final to Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference showdown.
Hannah Keochakian scored two goals for the Lyons—both in the second half—while Rocio Perez-Salas pocketed the game winner in the 29th minute. Goalkeeper Shannon Breen made three saves to record the clean sheet.
Mitchell newcomer Angelina Munoz made her collegiate debut in goal and contributed six saves before turning things over to Gemma Landry for the final 50 minutes. Landry also finished with six saves as the Mariners faced 25 shots.
Midway through the first half, a failed clear attempt by a Mitchell defender found Perez-Salas at the top of the box. Her shot from 16 yards out found the left side of the goal for the 1-0 advantage.
The first of Keochakian's goals came in the 47th minute as Perez-Salas played her a ball up the middle of the field that she dribbled into the box and deposited with her right foot. Her final tally came in the 71st after she tracked down a long ball played to her by Morgan Neal and popped it over the charging keeper.
Mitchell (2-4-1 overall) will next play at Curry College on Sunday, September 26 at noon.
