Women's Soccer Receives #2 Seed in NECC Championship
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Lesley University has secured the top seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Championship. The Lynx (13-3-1 overall, 9-0 NECC) finished the regular season unbeaten in conference play and earned a first round bye.
Mitchell College (8-4-2, 6-1-2 NECC) earned the second seed and will host Southern Vermont College (3-10, 2-6 NECC) which earned the seventh seed in first round action Tuesday.
Elms College earned the third seed, finishing the season 8-5-3 overall, 5-1-2 NECC. The Blazers will host sixth seed Regis College (8-7, 4-5 NECC) in a first round match-up Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
Fifth seed Newbury College (8-6-1, 5-3-1 NECC) will travel to fourth seed Becker College (9-8-2, 6-3 NECC). The winner will play top seed Lesley in a semifinal contest on Thursday.
The top seven teams qualify for the NECC Championship. Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical conference winning percentages.
First round games will be played on Tuesday, November 1 at the higher seed. Winners will advance to the semifinals on Thursday, November 3. Semifinal winners will meet Saturday, November 5 at the highest remaining seed.
