Record 28 Mariners Named to NECC Winter/Spring Academic All-Conference Team
MANSFIELD, Mass. - A total of 162 student-athletes, including 28 from Mitchell College, were named to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference Team for the 2021 winter/spring semester.
The 28 selections were the most Mitchell has produced in the winter/spring semester in its 12 years as an NECC member. The baseball team led the way with 10 selections while women's lacrosse had six, followed by men's basketball (5), softball (3), men's lacrosse (2) and women's basketball (2).
Representing the Mariners were sophomore Ryan Ahern (baseball), junior Hunter Baillargeon (men's basketball), junior Lucca Ardovini-Brooker (baseball), sophomore Ahmani Browne (men's basketball), sophomore Logan Casala (baseball), senior Hannah Corrigan (women's lacrosse), junior Stephanie Costabile (women's lacrosse), sophomore Tyler Daly (baseball), junior James Giovanniello (men's lacrosse), sophomore Aizhane Glenn (women's lacrosse), senior Julius Hemingway (men's basketball), sophomore Kenny Heon (baseball), senior Ashley Holdridge (women's lacrosse), junior John-John Jose (baseball), sophomore Samantha Kasheta (softball), sophomore Jaiden Kimbro (men's basketball), senior Desmond Knowles (men's lacrosse), senior Anthony Laureano (baseball), sophomore Jossette Madison (softball), junior Sam Majewski (baseball), sophomore Sam McKenna (women's basketball), junior Tyler Peretz (men's basketball), sophomore Rachel Riccuiti (women's lacrosse), sophomore Robbie Roles (baseball), sophomore Dede Stevenson (women's basketball), senior Kaitlin Thibodeau-Corey (softball), senior Roland Thivierge (baseball) and sophomore Mariah Travisano (women's lacrosse).
A total of 17 Mariners were first-time winter/spring honorees. Ardovini-Brooker, Giovanniello, Hemingway, Jose, Laureano, Majewski and Peretz were repeat selections while Corrigan, Knowles, Thibodeau-Corey and Thivierge earned the distinction for the third time in their careers.
To be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must post a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing. Student-athletes who competed in baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's track and field, men's volleyball, and men's and women's basketball were eligible for winter/spring NECC academic honors.
