Tennis Blanked at Regis
WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's tennis team improved to a perfect 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference following a 9-0 shutout over Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon.
The Mariners fall to 2-5 and 2-3 in league play with the setback.
The Pride jumped out to an early 3-0 lead following doubles play as Regis swept all three matchups. Abigail Wehr and Jazz Hicks picked up an 8-1 win in No. 1 doubles over Carly Paterson and Alexa Litwak, while Caroline Roche and Jewel Medeiros posted an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles.
Kendall Kolb and Vanneyra Chum added an 8-0 win over Dominique Lacroix and Veyda McVey in No. 3 doubles.
Wehr, Hicks, Medeiros, and Roche all picked up wins in their respective singles matches to seal the victory. Melinda Mara added a win in No. 5 singles over Lacroix, 6-1, 6-0, while Maryse Emungu rounded out singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over McVey in No. 6 singles.
Mitchell will next travel to Bay Path College on Tuesday, October 2 in an NECC match scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
