Bay Path Shuts Out Women's Tennis
LONGMEADOW, Mass. - The Bay Path College Wildcats shut out New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent Mitchell College, 9-0, Wednesday afternoon in women's tennis action.
Bay Path took all three doubles matches with Symone Watson and partner Stephanie Morin winning the No.1 flight 8-2. Teanna Montoya and Abigail Janneke won at No.2 doubles, 8-3, while the duo of Brittany Walsh and Taylor Wood won 8-0.
In singles action, Watson defeated junior Carly Paterson 6-0, 6-2 at the No.1 spot while Morin took junior Alexa Litwak 6-2, 6-0 at No.2 singles. Both No. 3 and No. 5 singles were swept by 6-0, 6-0 finals by Walsh and Wood.
At No. 4 singles, Montoya defeated sophomore Jennifer Schmidt 6-1, 6-1. In the final singles match, Janneke beat freshman Jordyn Murphy 6-1, 6-2.
Bay Path improved to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play. Mitchell fell to 2-6 on the season and 2-4 in the NECC.
Mitchell will next host Newbury College on Thursday, October 4 at 3 p.m.
