Volleyball Picks Up First NECC Win
HOLYOKE, Mass. - The Mitchell College women's volleyball team picked up its first conference win of the season on Tuesday night, defeating Bay Path University by a 3-0 final in New England Collegiate Conference action at the Bartley Center.
The Mariners won by set scores of 26-24, 25-21 and 25-17. Mitchell improved to 3-11 overall and 1-4 in the league.
Mitchell senior Amanda Garcia topped all hitters for the night with a season-high 13 kills and recorded a stellar .308 attack percentage. Junior Amanda Rowan wasn't far behind with a sizzling .316 hitting percentage and tallied eight kills. Defensively, senior Kaisea Caramante patrolled the floor well and finished with 18 digs.
The Wildcats' offense was led by Elizabeth Haylette and Lauren Vallee. Haylette hit .211 with seven kills while Vallee added nine kills and six digs. Lexi Cears notched a double-double with 19 assists and 12 digs.
Mitchell will next play at Elms College on Saturday, October 24 at noon.
