Four Mariners Earn NECC Volleyball Honors
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Four members of the Mitchell College women's volleyball team were recognized by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday afternoon.
Seniors Amanda Garcia and Kaisea Caramante were named to the all-conference second team while junior Amanda Rowan was selected to the all-conference third team. Senior Nicole Caminiti rounded out the group by being named to the NECC All-Sportsmanship Team. All awards were determined by a vote of the league's head coaches.
Garcia nabbed all-conference honors for the third time in her career, as she was a second team pick in 2013 and an honorable mention selection in 2014. She started all 18 matches and led the Mariners in both kills (154) and blocks (41). In four seasons she amassed career totals of 747 kills and 157 blocks over 84 matches.
Caramante earned all-conference honors for the first time in her career. The Mitchell libero played in all 18 matches and ranked second in the NECC in digs per set (4.32) and seventh in total digs (281). In four seasons she recorded 997 career digs in 72 matches.
Rowan also received all-conference recognition for the first time in her career. She led the Mariners in hitting percentage (.207) and ranked second on the team in both kills (114) and total points (123.5). She also added 14 blocks and appeared in all 18 matches.
Caminiti, a co-captain and starting setter, ranked fifth in the NECC in assists per set (6.15). She played in all 18 matches and finished the year with 400 assists and 190 digs, and in 84 career matches she totaled 1,414 assists and 703 digs.
Mitchell finished the season with an overall record of 4-14 under second-year head coach Kathy Frankowski. The Mariners went 1-7 in NECC play and finished a game shy of qualifying for the NECC Championship.
