CHAPMAN AND PERILLO NAMED LEAGUE "BEST" OF THE WEEK
NEW LONDON, CONN.--- Mitchell College Baseball landed two on this week's "Players of the Week" list for the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC). Mitchell went 2-1 this past weekend in conference play, to secure a spot in post season. Sophomore southpaw Jeremy Chapman (Oakdale, Conn./Waterford) and freshman third-baseman Jeff Perillo (Newington, Conn./Newington) were recognized for their hand in the Pequot victories.
Pitcher of the Week

Chapman, now a two-time CUNYAC Pitcher of the Week honoree this
year, fired a complete-game (seven-inning) four-hitter with 11
strikeouts in a 5-1 victory over conference foe John Jay in the
opening half of Saturday's doubleheader. He did not walk a batter
in the contest, and allowed just one extra-base hit on the
afternoon.
Rookie of the Week
Jeff Perillo, Mitchell
Fr. 3B, 5-foot-10
Newington, Conn./Newington
Perillo's 4-for-10 weekend with two homers, six runs and five RBI
helped the Pequots to win two of their three CUNYAC games against
John Jay. He went 2-for-4 with a double, homer, stolen base and two
RBI in the opening contest, before scoring two runs and reaching
base three times (1-for-2, 2 BB) in the nightcap of the
doubleheader. Sunday afternoon, he hit a homer with two runs and as
many RBI.
Player of the Week
Xavier Perez, John Jay
So. IF/OF, 6-foot-4
Bronx, N.Y./Manhattan Center
Perez hit .625 (15-for-24) last week for the Bloodhounds while
stealing five bases and scoring six runs. He notched three
four-hit-plus games on the week, including a 5-for-5 outing with a
triple and three runs scored in a victory against Staten Island. He
went 4-for-4 Wednesday at St. Joseph's (L.I.), while going 4-for-5
with three steals and one RBI in a CUNYAC victory at Mitchell.
