Peck Earns All-New England Honors
The New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) announced the 2014 Division III All-New England Teams on Wednesday, and Mitchell College junior Evan Peck was one of the 51 players honored from the region.
Peck, a first baseman, was named to the All-New England third team. One of three players recognized from the New England Collegiate Conference, he becomes the fifth Mitchell player to earn All-New England status, joining Jeremy Chapman (third team in 2010), John Apostolo (second team in 2011), Jeff Perillo (third team in 2011) and Tyler Shamas (third team in 2013).
Peck batted a team-high .377 with 30 RBI and 25 runs scored over 35 games during the regular season and conference tournament. He leads the team with 14 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games, and earlier this season he recorded his 100th career hit.
The Mariners (23-12-1 overall) won the 2014 NECC Championship and earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Championship. Mitchell will make its second appearance in the NCAA tournament and will face top-seeded Eastern Connecticut State University on Wednesday, May 14 at 1 p.m.
