Mariners Earn CUNYAC Baseball All-Conference Recognition, Deltgen Named to First Team
FLUSHING, N.Y. - Mitchell College senior pitcher, Adam
Deltgen (Norwich, Conn.) was named to the City University
of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Baseball All-Conference
First Team for his efforts this season. Fellow Mariners
Clayton Boegler (Somerset, Mass.) and Jeff
Perillo (Newington, Conn.) were both named to the CUNYAC
All-Conference second team.
Deltgen appeared in 10 games this season and
earned a 6-1 record, as he pitched 69 innings and had a 4.43
ERA. The senior hurler pitched seven complete games and
fanned 68 batters. In the recent CUNYAC championship in which
Mitchell was the runner-up, Deltgen pitched 11 innings and gave up
10 hits and only three earned runs.
Sophomore third baseman Boegler had a .283
batting average in 35 games this season and had seven doubles and
14 RBI. At the CUNYAC championship, he put up big offensive
numbers with a .333 batting average, seven hits, two doubles, and
three RBI.
Perillo, a sophomore shortstop, batted an
impressive .372 on the season and nailed 17 doubles and four home
runs for a slugging percentage of .612. He was a clutch
hitter during the CUNYAC championship as he batted .500 and had
eight hits and four RBI.
The Mariners concluded the 2009 season with a 12-23 overall record
and they claimed the 2nd place trophy at the CUNYAC
tournament with wins over John Jay College and College of Staten
Island.
