Bulldogs Defeat Men’s Lacrosse in Final GNAC Game of the Season
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Dean College men's lacrosse team took control early on and pulled out a 16-3 victory over Mitchell College on Wednesday afternoon in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) South Division regular season finale for both squads.
11 different players scored for the Bulldogs, while freshman Manny Alvarez-Segee led all players with four points on two goals and two assists. Junior Owen Brine scored three goals, while senior Diego Alvarez-Segee posted three points on a goal and two assists.
Senior Weston Schumacher (Sherborn, Mass.) scored twice for the Mariners. Fellow senior CJ Bradley (West Babylon, N.Y.) and junior Keeano Gonzalez (New London, Conn.) each picked up seven ground balls. Senior goalkeeper Dylan Kinsella (Waterbury, Conn.) logged all 60 minutes in the cage and had 10 saves for Mitchell.
Sophomore Xavier Haney (Montville, Conn.) was responsible for the other Mitchell goal, while Gonzalez and junior Jon Parra-Tobey (New London, Conn.) each dished out an assist.
Dean controlled the action from the opening faceoff and scored six times in the first frame. The Bulldogs added four goals in the second and the third. Mitchell got on the board in the third, while each team scored twice in the final quarter.
The Mariners (0-11, 0-10 GNAC) will wrap up their season on Monday, April 29th, with a non-conference game against MCLA. The Bulldogs (11-4, 7-3 GNAC) will host Saint Joseph's College (ME) in the quarterfinals of the 2024 GNAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday, April 27th.
