
Mount Saint Vincent Hands LAX 15-3 Loss
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men’s lacrosse
team dropped a 15-3 decision to Mount Saint Vincent College on
Thursday afternoon at Silfen Field on the campus of Connecticut
College.
Ahmed Ajao netted a hat trick to lead the Dolphins while Rowan
Frederick added a goal and six assists. Seven different players
found the back of the net for MSV (5-4 overall), which held a
commanding 59-20 advantage in shots.
Sophomore Adam Grillo scored all three goals for the Mariners
(0-3 overall). Junior Patrick
Nielsen recorded an assist on the goal that completed
Grillo’s hat trick.
Grillo got the Mariners off to a good start, scoring just over
three minutes into the contest for an early 1-0 lead. The Dolphins,
however, outscored Mitchell 10-1 in the remainder of the half. Ajao
gave MSV the lead with 8:17 to play in the first quarter and added
his second goal with 1:46 to go in the second, giving the Dolphins
a 10-2 lead at the break. MSV’s Ken Valentine and Mike
Visintin also scored two goals apiece in the first half.
The Dolphins outscored the Mariners 4-0 in the third quarter and
notched their 11th straight goal to start the fourth. Mitchell
finally broke the streak with 11:56 remaining when Nielsen
connected with Grillo for the game’s final goal.
MSV dominated possession thanks to the play of Chris Guastamacchia,
who went 19-for-21 on face-offs and also added a pair of goals. The
Dolphins held a 65-28 advantage in ground balls led by a game-high
10 from Valentine.
Mike Nuzzi played the entire 60 minutes in goal for the Dolphins
and finished with five saves. Sophomores Joseph

Jameson split time between the pipes for the Mariners.
Nott made the start and finished with nine saves while Jameson
played the second half and recorded 12 stops.
Mitchell returns to action at home on Saturday, April 3 against
Bard College. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
