MARCY, N.Y. - The Mitchell College men's lacrosse team picked up its first road win of the season on Thursday night by an 8-4 final at SUNYIT.
Junior David Klapp scored four goals and added an assist to lead the Mariners (2-1 overall). Freshman Aaron Sladyk chipped in with two goals and a helper while classmate Dan DiGioia and junior Aaron Feinberg rounded out the Mitchell goal scorers.
The two teams were tied at 3-3 at halftime and 4-4 heading into the fourth quarter, but Mitchell finally took control in the final period. The Mariners outscored SUNYIT 4-0 in the stanza, with Klapp and Sladyk each supplying a pair of goals.
Junior goalie Peter Eshenfelder had six saves to go along with a team-high nine ground balls. Freshman defender Maxx Crowley added seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Mitchell will next play Wells College on Saturday, March 9 at noon. The game will be played at Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y.
