Mitchell Baseball Eliminated From NECC Tournament
BENNINGTON, Vt. - In day two of the New England Collegiate
Conference Baseball Playoffs the #2 Elms College Blazers rolled
past the #4 Mitchell College Mariners 12-3. Freshman left hander
Zach LeBarron (Bennington, Vt.) pitched seven strong innings for
the win striking out three and only walking one.
In game one against Mitchell Freshman Brendan Cordeiro (Berkley,
Mass.) and freshman Zach Cerra (South Windsor, Conn.) each had
three hits for Elms. Freshman Nicolino Iavicoli (Hampden, Mass.),
sophomore Albert Betances (Haverhill, Mass.), and Cerra each had
two RBI for the Blazers. Betances and Cerra each knocked home runs
in the victory.
Sophomore John McGarry (Waterford, Conn.) led the Mariners
offensively going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Juniors Matthew Radke
(Terryville, Conn.) and Andrew Langlais (Ledyard, Conn.) each had
two hits and an RBI as Mitchell College is sent home with this
being its second loss in the tourney.
