Chapman Earns ECAC Honors
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Mitchell College senior Jeremy
Chapman was named ECAC Division III New England Co-Pitcher of
the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the Eastern College Athletic
Conference.
Chapman, who shares the honor with Tufts’ Kevin Gilchrist,
takes home ECAC weekly accolades for the third time this season. He
struck out 11 batters and gave up only two hits over a
complete-game, seven-inning performance in a 5-0 win over Becker
College on Saturday. The win improved his overall record to 5-0 and
was his team-leading third shutout of the season.
Chapman entered the weekend leading the country in both ERA and
hits allowed per nine innings at the Division III level. His ERA
dropped to 0.66 and he has allowed only 18 hits over 41.0 innings.
Chapman also leads the NECC with 57 strikeouts and has held
opponents to .127 hitting in six appearances.
Mitchell (12-11 overall, 7-4 NECC) is scheduled to host a make-up
game against Becker on Wednesday, April 28 at 3:30 p.m.
