Baseball's Perillo Tabbed NECC Player of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – For the third and final time this season,
Mitchell College junior Jeff
Perillo was named NECC Player of the Week, as announced on
Monday by the New England Collegiate Conference.
Perillo batted a team-high .500 (7-for-14), scored three times and
drove in one run to lead the Mariners to a 3-1 record last week. He
slugged .643 over the four games and had multiple hits in two
games, including a 4-for-5 effort against Becker. Perillo also
extended his hitting streak to a career-high 15 games during the
week before having it snapped in a win over Newbury.
Perillo leads the NECC with a .468 batting average and has driven
in a team-best 28 runs. Nearly half (21) of his 44 hits have gone
for extra bases, and he leads the Mariners in virtually every
offensive category. In conference play he batted .551 for the year
and hit safely in 14 of 15 games.
Perillo previously earned Player of the Week honors on March 22 and
29. His selection marks the 10th time a member of the Mitchell
baseball team has earned weekly conference accolades this
season.
Mitchell (15-12 overall, 10-5 NECC) is the second seed in the
upcoming NECC Baseball Championship, which will be hosted by Daniel
Webster College on May 7-9. The Mariners will face third-seeded
Becker College in the opening round of the double-elimination
tournament.
