Baseball to Host NECC Title Game on Wednesday

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Top-seeded Mitchell College will host fourth-seeded Southern Vermont College on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the title game of the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference Baseball Championship.
The Mariners (22-9-1 overall) lost the opening game of the double-elimination tournament but fought their way through the loser's bracket, beating Southern Vermont (18-21 overall) on Sunday to force a winner-take-all final game. The winner of Wednesday's game will be crowned conference champion and earn the NECC's first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Championship.
Mitchell lost 6-2 to Southern Vermont in the tournament opener but advanced to the title round behind wins over Becker College and Daniel Webster College. The Mariners then handed the Mountaineers their first loss of the tournament by a 9-7 final.
