Men's Golf Hosts and Wins Tri-Match

GROTON, Conn. - The Mitchell College men's golf team hosted and won
a tri-match against Becker College and Elms College on Wednesday
afternoon at Shennecossett Golf Course.
Mitchell shot the low team round of the day at 353, edging Elms
(361) by eight strokes. Becker posted a team round of 384 to
complete the scoring.
Elms' David Pianki earned individual medalist honors by carding an
82 (+11) in highly windy conditions. Teammates Andrew Sullivan and
Daniel Costello tied for runner-up honors at 85.
Junior John Pescheta (Worcester, Mass.) finished fourth overall and
carded a season-low round of 86 to pace the Mariners. Freshmen Matt
Baker (Gales Ferry, Conn.) and Willard Visel (Ivoryton, Conn.) each
shot rounds of 88 and tied for sixth overall. Sophomore Tad Maynard
(Stafford Springs, Conn.) and junior Matt Chatell (Coventry, R.I.)
rounded out the scoring at 91 (T-8th) and 99 (11th),
respectively.
Mitchell will next compete at the NECC Championship on Saturday and
Sunday, October 10-11 at Shennecossett Golf Course. Saturday is
scheduled for a 7:45 a.m. shotgun start, while Sunday's round will
go off at noon.
