McCarthy Wins Mitchell Invite IV
GROTON, Conn. -- The Mitchell College men's golf team wrapped up the 2019 season with a runner-up finish at the Mitchell Invite IV on Wednesday afternoon at Shennecossett Golf Course.
The Mariners posted their best team round of the season (331) but fell four strokes short of Mount St. Mary College (327). Dean College (338), Western Connecticut State University (342) and Emmanuel College (452) rounded out the field.
The season ended on a bright note for Mitchell's Michael McCarthy, who carded the lowest round of the day to claim individual medalist honors for the first time in his collegiate career. He led all 25 players with 10 pars on his scorecard and also added a birdie. Nick Knisel shot 81 to tie for fourth overall while Michael Izzo and Christopher Ronzello each recorded rounds of 86 to tie for 11th.
