CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Elms College on Tuesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Leary Field.
Elms opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a goal from Jamie McDonough, followed by a second from Jenna McGuire in the 41st. The Blazers added two more in the second half, with goals by Sydney Polica and Emily Basua to seal the win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ronnie Keays (Salem, N.H.) stayed active in net for the Mariners, making 13 saves on 17 shots on goal, as Elms totaled 38 shots in the match. Ramia Santos earned the shutout for the Blazers with two saves in goal.
Mitchell managed five shots on the night. Senior Lauren Cordero (Selden, N.Y.) and sophomore Chloe Jennings (New London, Conn.) each recorded a shot on goal, while senior Taylor Bialowas (Griswold, Conn.) and sophomore Ava Iwasko (Sterling Heights, Mich.) also contributed attempts.
Elms also held a significant advantage in corner kicks, finishing with a 19-1 edge in opportunities.
The Mariners (2-9, 0-9 GNAC) will look to bounce back in their next outing — a conference road clash on Saturday, October 18, at Lasell University.
