BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team lost by a 2-0 final at Southern Vermont College on Wednesday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference play at Everett Field.
Molly Madore broke both the SVC women's soccer all-time scoring and all-time points records in the victory. She tied the program's career-high goals mark of 27 set by Kaitlyn Forant '14 in the 10th minute, and she then padded the SVC lead nearly 11 minutes later to break the record in just her 31st game as a Mountaineer. The 2-0 SVC lead lasted through the final 70:09 of action to give the hosts their third-straight win and fourth in the last five games.
The four points pushed Madore up to 66 for her career, passing Eva Graham '01 to become the team's all-time leader in that category as well.
Southern Vermont improved to 7-4-2 overall and 4-1 in league action, now having tallied five shutouts this season. The victory makes the Mountaineers 4-0-1 in their last five meetings with the Mariners, closing the all-time series gap to a 5-4-1 Mitchell edge.
SVC keeper Melissa Mascari made only one save in the win (7-4-2), benefitting from strong play by her midfield and defensive units. Marscari and the Mountaineer backfield have now recorded five shutouts this year including three straight. Mitchell goalkeeper Jordan Lohneiss came up with six saves in the loss.
Mitchell (1-10, 1-4 NECC) next heads to Newbury College on Saturday, October 15 for a 2 p.m. league contest.
