WATERTOWN, Mass. -- The Mitchell College women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw at Newbury College on Saturday evening in New England Collegiate Conference play at Alumni Field.
The Mariners were three minutes away from a win when Newbury's Elizabeth Kia evened the match with a goal that forced a pair of scoreless overtimes. Each team produced two shots on goal in the extra 20 minutes but couldn't come up with the winner.
Mitchell's goal came in the 56th minute off the foot of senior Alexandra Charles. She tallied her second goal of the year on an unassisted effort from 15 yards out to the far-side corner.
Junior Katie McBride played all 110 minutes in goal and finished with five saves in the contest. Newbury keeper Elizabeth Fox posted 11 saves.
Mitchell will next host Wheelock College on Wednesday, October 29 at 3 p.m.
