LEICESTER, Mass. – The Becker College women's soccer team defeated Mitchell College 4-1 in the first round of the 2015 New England Collegiate Conference Championship on Tuesday evening at Alumni Field.
Becker (14-5-0 overall) got on the board 9:16 into the game when Lindsey Keith centered a pass to Alison Mosdale for a breakaway goal. Erika Galdamez fed Maria Colon down the near sideline with 9:30 remaining in the first half to put the Hawks in front 2-0.
Mosdale added to the Hawks' lead 17 seconds into the second half when she tickled the twine from 25 yards out on a pass from Colon. Mosdale completed the hat trick with 33:36 remaining in regulation on another assist from Galdamez.
Mitchell avoided the shutout with 17 seconds remaining when Christina Jando put back a rebound in front of the goal for her sixth maker of the season.
Becker goalie Jordyn Martel made seven stops while Katie McBride turned away 10 shots for the Mariners.
Becker advances to the NECC semifinals on Thursday, November 5 and will face top-seeded Lesley University at 8:00 p.m. Mitchell ends its season with an overall record of 4-9-4.
