Landry Named to GNAC All-Conference Second Team; Mitchell Wins Institutional Sportsmanship Award
WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior goalkeeper Gemma Landry (Lewiston, ME) was named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference Second Team and Mitchell College received the Institutional Sportsmanship Award, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon. Landry was one of three goalkeepers to earn a spot on an All-Conference Team.
Voting was conducted by the league's 16 women's soccer head coaches following the regular season and did not take postseason play into account.
Landry, an All-Conference First Team selection and Goalkeeper of the Year in 2023, concluded the most prolific goalkeeping career of the Division III era of the program with another strong season, finishing second in the conference with 173 saves before an injury robbed her of her final two games. Landry's 173 saves in GNAC play was tops in the league, while she also ranked fourth in the conference in save percentage (.801). The senior turned away double-digit shots in eight out of 12 games, highlighted by a 27 save performance against Johnson & Wales, good for the most saves in a single-game in program history. She also recorded one shutout. Her 14.42 saves per contest is the second most in the nation at the Division III level, and Landry also ranks within the top 10 nationally in total saves.
Landry finishes her Mitchell career as the program's all-time leader in saves (640) and saves per game (11.03), while she is second all-time in shutouts (11) and third in save percentage (.823).
As a team, the Mariners won the Institutional Sportsmanship Award and senior Francesca Zamarripa (Tampa, Fla.) earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Emmanuel's Sarah Dullaghan earned the league's top offensive honor as the Offensive Player of the Year, while Johnson & Wales' Emily DeRoehn was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year. Rivier goalkeeper Bri Nugent was named Goalkeeper of the Year and JWU's Jamie Davies earned Rookie of the Year honors. JWU head coach Chris Flint was voted Coach of the Year by his peers.
