NEW LONDON, Conn. – Becker College scored late in the first half and made the margin stand against Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon, winning by a 1-0 final in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) match-up at Alumni Field.
Alycia Dery notched her team-leading ninth goal of the season with 2:05 remaining in the opening half to put Becker (3-6-0 overall, 2-0-0 NECC) on top. Goalkeeper Katherine Cormier earned her first shutout of the season and made three saves.
Lauren Zaleski set up the goal with a cross from the right side that found Dery in front of the Mitchell goal. Dery fired a shot to the left corner that beat keeper Kaylee Woodford and gave the Hawks the 1-0 advantage before the break.
