Women's Soccer Plays to Draw with ENC in Regular Season Finale
QUINCY, Mass. -- The Mitchell College women's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw in their regular season finale Saturday evening against Eastern Nazarene College in New England Collegiate Conference action at Veteran's Memorial Stadium.
The Mitchell defense delivered another strong performance, limiting the Lions to just eight shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Gemma Landy made all eight saves, strengthening her position as the saves leader in the NECC.
The Mariners registered 10 shots, five on goal, and had four corner kick opportunities. Freshman Cassandra Roman paced Mitchell with two shots on goal, while Taylor Bialowas, Elon Johnson, and Rachel Ricciuti also got quality looks to score.
Eastern Nazarene were credited with 15 shots, eight on goal, and had a pair of corner kick opportunities. Mackenzie Quick tallied five saves for the Lions.
The Mariners wrap up their regular season with a 5-7-4 record (1-2-3 NECC), and earned the three-seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer tournament. The Mariners will play at second-seeded New England College on Thursday, November 3, at 5:00 pm. Mitchell and the Pilgrims played to a pair of scoreless draws in their two meetings this season. The winner of that matchup will advance to Sunday's conference championship, where they will play whichever team survives the other semifinal game between top-seeded Lesley University and fourth-seeded Eastern Nazarene.
