NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Mitchell College women's soccer team won for the third time in their last four games on Wednesday afternoon at home, shutting out the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats, 3-0.
Taylor Bialowas led the way for the Mariners, notching a pair of goals and assisting on another.
The freshman first made her presence felt just seconds before halftime when she fired a pass into the zone to set up Hannah Penn, who broke a scoreless tie and sent Mitchell to the intermission with a one goal lead. Less than a minute into the second half Bialowas was back at it, taking a pass from Francesca Zamarripa and crossing it across the net, sliding it past the Bobcat goalie into the far left corner for her first colliegate goal. In the 86th minute the red hot first year player capped her impressive day, scoring unassisted to give the Mariners one more insurance goal.
Mitchell would not end up needing the insurance goal, however, as Angelina Munoz and Gemma Landry split the game in net, niether allowing a goal as the Mariners shut out their opponent for the fourth time this season.
Mitchell dominated the possesion battle, carrying pace of play throughout and outshooting Bryant & Stratton 18-3.
The Mariners (3-4-1) will be back in action on the road Saturday, traveling to play York (N.Y.).
