PAXTON, Mass. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference showdown.
The AMCATS (1-1-0 overall) came out strong, scoring twice in the first half and once in the second half to pick up their first win of the season. Anna Maria Riley Michaud scored the first goal for Anna Maria just under three minutes into the contest, and then found the net again in the 18th minute on an assist from Olympia Myers.
The Mariners regrouped at intermission, taking the field with added intensity that resulted in a much more balanced second half. The defense in particular responded, allowing just one more goal, which came in the 59th minute, when Keannah Dunsmore set up Samantha Rodriguez, who found the back of net.
Mitchell goalie Gemma Landry turned in another strong performance, finishing with 15 saves against 19 shots on goal. Landry now has 32 saves through two games this season. Taylor Bialowas continued the aggressive start to her Mariner career, leading the team with two shots on goal.
