NASHUA, N.H. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team fell 4-0 at Rivier University on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Joanne Merrill Field.
The Raiders struck quickly in the opening half, building a four-goal advantage by the 29th minute. Leah Morrier paced the hosts with two tallies, while Bailey Gatchell and Hayleigh Young also found the back of the net.
Mitchell's defensive unit settled in after the early surge, holding Rivier scoreless over the final 61 minutes of play. Sophomore goalkeeper Ronnie Keays (Salem, N.H.) turned in a strong performance between the posts, recording 14 saves against a Raider attack that generated 51 total shots.
On the offensive end, senior Cassandra Roman (New London, Conn.) led the Mariners with all three of the team's shot attempts, including a pair on target.
Mitchell (1-2-0, 0-2-0 GNAC) will look to bounce back on Saturday, September 20, when it returns home to host Emmanuel College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
