MILTON, Mass. – Mitchell College dropped a 6-0 decision to Curry College on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference women's soccer match-up at Walter M. Katz Field.
With the win, Curry snapped a three-match losing skid and improved to 4-5-0 on the season. Mitchell dropped to 2-5-1 overall.
Curry's offense got to work right from the outset, as Sydney Dewhurst headed home a McKenna Reid corner kick just 2:20 into the contest. In the next 4:02, Curry added two more goals to take a 3-0 lead less than seven minutes into the game. Samantha Borges and Nacelia Juarez notched the early markers for Curry, with assists credited to Brooke Bonneau, Brooke Sullivan and Shannon Folan.
Bonneau and Lexi LaPerle also scored in the first half for Curry to put the Colonels ahead 5-0 going to the break. Kiera Lindmark recorded an assist on the Bonneau goal.
Lindmark netted her first collegiate goal in the 89th minute to seal the 6-0 victory. Sullivan dished out her second assist of the day on the goal.
The Colonels held a significant margin in the shot count, outshooting the Mariners 55-1 and 26-0 in shots on goal. Gemma Landry made a season-high 20 saves for Mitchell, while Curry's Hannah Correa was credited with the win despite not having to stop a Mariner shot.
Mitchell returns to the pitch for a non-conference contest against York College (N.Y.) on Wednesday, September 29.
