NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to visiting Saint Joseph's College (ME) on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play at Alumni Field.
The Monks struck early and never looked back, scoring three goals in the opening 15 minutes of play.
Mitchell limited Saint Joseph's to just two second-half goals despite facing a relentless offensive effort. The visitors finished with a 41-2 advantage in total shots and controlled possession throughout the match, while also holding a 7-1 edge in corner kick opportunities.
Senior Halie Jennings (New London, Conn.) recorded the lone shot on goal for the Mariners, while fellow senior Taylor Bialowas (Griswold, Conn.) added the team's only other shot attempt.
Sophomore Ronnie Keays (Salem, N.H.) turned away 17 shots for Mitchell, marking the eighth time in 10 games this fall she has recorded double-digit saves.
Saint Joseph's was led by Abbey Laney, Jordan Huntley, and Sydney Gallop, each scoring in the first half. The Monks would add two more after the break to secure the road win.
