Men's Golf Places Second in Season Debut
GROTON, Conn. – Wentworth Institute of Technology shot a team round of 315 to win the Mitchell College Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Shennecossett Golf Course.
Dan Howard carded the low round of the day to propel the Leopards to victory. The Wentworth freshman shot a three-over par 74 to grab individual medalist honors and finished his round with 10 pars and three birdies.
Mitchell finished as runner-up with a team total of 363 while Becker College (372) and Albertus Magnus College (382) rounded out the field. Each school placed a golfer in the top four individually, although all five Wentworth golfers finished in the top eight.
The Mariners received a solid round of 76 from Michael Izzo, who carded 12 pars in his collegiate debut to finish two shots off the lead. Aaron Macchia paced the Falcons and finished third overall with a round of 78 while Becker's MacGregor Howey tied for fourth at 79.
Mitchell will next play at Emmanuel College on Wednesday, September 14 at noon.
