Eichelberg Earns Medalist Honors at EC Saints Invite
BOSTON – Mitchell College junior David Eichelberg carded a 77 to earn individual medalist honors, but it was Suffolk University that took home the team crown in the 2016 EC Saints Invite with a team score of 325 on Tuesday afternoon at George Wright Golf Course.
Host Emmanuel College carded a 352 to finish second while Eichelberg's Mariners finished third with a team score of 370. Rounding out the field was Dean College, which came in with a 396.
All five Rams broke 90 on the scorecard led by a team-low of 78 from freshman Owen Boggini. Fellow rookie Elias Sachs played well with an 80 out of the No. 5 spot followed by an 82 from freshman Demetrois Stamouli. Freshman Andrew Harper wasn't far behind with an 85 out of the No. 4 spot to round out the top four scores for Suffolk.
The host Saints received a solid outing by freshman Jack Scavone, who shot an 82 in his first round ever at George Wright. Senior Tyler Russ carded a 41 on the front nine but ended the afternoon with an 85 from the No. 3 position. Sophomore Jack Hanrahan put together a solid round of 89 from the No. 5 hole, carding a 45 on the front and 44 on the back. Sophomore Brian Daly carded a 96 to round out the top four scores for the hosts.
Eichelberg's 77 led the way for Mitchell followed by an 83 from freshman Michael Izzo. Junior Jake Hancock fired a 91 from the No. 3 position while senior Eric Davey rounded out the Mariners' scores with a 119.
For Dean, freshman Michael McAuliffe was the only member to break the century marker with an 85 out of the No. 1 position. Freshman Joshua McInnis posted an even 100 followed by a 105 by sophomore Chris DeLuca. Junior Jeremy DeVincentis was one stroke behind him with a 106.
Mitchell will host its final match of the season on Wednesday, October 12 at Shennecossett Golf Course.
