Men's Golf Wraps Season with Runner-Up Finish at Mitchell Invitational
GROTON, Conn. – Emmanuel College shot a team round of 346 to win the Mitchell Invitational on Wednesday afternoon at Shennecossett Golf Course.
Jack Scavone shot 81 and tied for the low round of the day to lead the Saints over Mitchell College (351) and Dean College (362). Dean's Mike McAuliffe also carded an 81 and was declared individual medalist due to matching scorecards.
Three Emmanuel golfers shot in the 80s and finished in the top six. Colin Cordero and Taylor Kieselback contributed rounds of 84 and 85, respectively, while Lucas Curtin rounded out the scoring for the Saints at 96.
Mike Izzo led the Mariners with a round of 82 to tie for third overall. David Eichelberg shot 88 while Jake Hancock came in at 90. Orson Sinclair also turned in the best round of his collegiate career at 91 and placed ninth.
Dean's Kyle Bemis finished one shot behind McAuliffe at 82 and tied for third. Chris DeLuca and Evan Menzinger also contributed to the team score with rounds of 95 and 104, respectively.
The Mitchell Invitational was the final event of the season for the Mariners.
