Stigler, Pellegrini Earn NECC Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass. -- A pair of Mitchell College baseball players were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference on Monday.
Junior outfielder Anthony Stigler was named NECC Player of the Week while senior Jakari Pellegrini was tabbed NECC Pitcher of the Week. The duo helped the Mariners open the 2021 season with a doubleheader split against Fisher College on February 28.
Stigler hit .375 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored in his Mitchell debut. He had two hits and knocked in all three runs in the first game of the Fisher series and also recorded a stolen base.
Pellegrini tossed a shutout in his season debut, striking out five and scattering three hits in a five-inning victory. The win was the 15th of his career, the most by any current player on the Mitchell roster.
Mitchell (1-1 overall) will host Fisher for a single game on Tuesday, March 9 at 3:30 p.m.
