Golf Competes in MSMC Knights Shootout
NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- The Mitchell College men's golf team traveled to Newburgh, N.Y. on Wednesday to compete in the MSMC Knights Shootout at the The Powelton Club.
The meet, which was hosted by Mount Saint Mary College, also featured Western Connecticut State University and Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham.
The Mariners finished the day in fourth place with a team score of 368. Western Connecticut led the pack with a score of 324, with FDU just five strokes back (329), and MSMC just three strokes behind them (332).
Mitchell senior Shamus McLean had another strong day on the links, coming in third overall individually with an eight-over-par score of 78. Francis Braun of Western Connecticut earned medalist honors, shooting a six-over-par 76, while Vinny Dasaro of FDU placed second with a seven-over-par round of 77.
Jaxon Hinshaw landed just outside of the top 10 for Mitchell, carding an 86. Ryan King (96) and Micheal Thompson (108) rounded out the scoring for the Mariners.
Mitchell will wrap up their season on Wednesday, October 19th, when they return to Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton for the Mitchell Invitational IV.
