Men’s Golf Plays Host to Albertus in Great Neck Duel
WATERFORD, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's golf team hosted fellow GNAC member Albertus Magnus College in the Great Neck Duel on Wednesday afternoon at Great Neck Country Club in Waterford, Connecticut.
The Falcons scored the top score on the day, shooting a 307 as a team while the Mariners finished with a 374. Albertus sophomore Shamar Wilson was the leader of the pack, earning medalist honors by finishing with an even par score of 71. The highlight of the day for Wilson came on the second hole, a 515 yard par-5, in which he eagled. Junior Charlie Kristofak was the runner up, firing a six-over-par round of 77, while senior Shamus McLean (Groton, Conn.) was the top finisher for Mitchell, shooting a nine-over-par round of 80, good for fifth place in the 10 player field.
Mitchell senior Jack Hayes (New Milford, Conn.) came in behind McLean with a score of 91. Freshman Jackson Rapell (Fairfield, Conn.) shot a 106, and junior Micheal Thompson (Hamden, Conn.) a 107 to round out the scoring for the Mariners.
The Mitchell golf team will take to the road for their next match, traveling to the EC Invite and the South Shore Country Club in Hingham, Massachsetts on Thursday, September 28th.
