Men’s Golf Hosts Mitchell Invite I
GROTON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's golf team continued their season on Wednesday afternoon, hosting the Mitchell Invite I at Shennecossett Golf Course.
Senior Shamus McLean (Groton, Conn) paced the Mariners, shooting a five-over-par 76, finishing in a tie for fifth place individually. As a team, Mitchell scored a 351 (+67) claiming fourth place, while Eastern Connecticut State University held the top spot (293), Wentworth Institute of Technology placed second (318), and Western Connecticut State University took third (326).
Senior Jack Hayes (New Milford, Conn.) fired an 83 to finish second for the Mariners, while Israel Smith (Houston, TX) shot a 96, Liam Kane (Waterford, Conn.) a 98, and Nathan Mahoney (Stonington, Conn.) a 100 to round out the scoring for Mitchell.
Sophomore Ethan McDaniel of Eastern CT earned medalist honors by shooting a three-under-par 68.
The Mariners jump right back into action on Thursday, September 12, when they travel to South Shore Country Club to compete in the Saints Invitational hosted by Emmanuel College.
