McLean Named GNAC Golfer of the Week for Third Time This Season
WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior Shamus McLean (Groton, Conn.) has been named Golfer of the Week by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in the sport of men's golf, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
It marks the third time this fall that McLean has claimed Golfer of the Week honors, as the senior took the top individual spot in both events that the Mariners competed in during the week.
McLean began the week by claiming medalist honors at the Mitchell Invitational III on Wednesday, October 2, by carding a four-over-par round of 75 at Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton, Connecticut. He then matched his career-best with a round score of 68 (-2) to claim the top individual spot on Friday, October 4, at the Mitchell's duel with Dean College at Beaver River Golf Club in Richmond, R.I. McLean has now claimed medalist honors in five of the six events the Mariners have competed in this fall and has posted an average round score of 72.
The Mariners will get one more round in before the GNAC Championship when they compete in the Emmanuel Invitational on Wednesday, October 9, at the South Shore Country Club in Hingham, Massachusetts.
