Mitchell Hosts XC Race at Stenger Farm Park

WATERFORD, Conn. - The Mitchell College men's and women's cross
country teams ran against three other teams at an event hosted by
the Mariners at Stenger Farm Park on Wednesday afternoon. The men's
team finished second while the women's squad placed third.
The University of Bridgeport won both the men's and women's race.
On the men's side, Bridgeport (25 points) narrowly edged Mitchell
(30) in a close race while Post University (71) and Albertus Magnus
College (116) rounded out the field. In the women's race,
Bridgeport (28) edged Post (37) while Mitchell (69) and Albertus
Magnus (DNP) followed.
Bridgeport's Brian Bor crossed the line first for the men, clocking
in with a time of 17:12.7 over the 5k course and 30 seconds ahead
of his nearest competitor. Mitchell's John Hoffman placed second at
17:42.8. Bridgeport and Mitchell combined to secure the top 10
individual finishes in the race.
On the women's side, Post's Diana Castellano (22:31.4) edged
Bridgeport's Jennavie Orrell (22:34.3) by nearly three seconds.
Mitchell's Brittany Smyth crossed the line first for the Mariners
and finished third overall at 22:53.2.
Mitchell will next compete at Emmanuel College on Friday, October
16.
