
Still Takes First Place at Blazer Classic Invitational
CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Blazer Classic Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Western New England College took the team titles in both the men's and women's events. The Mitchell men finished fifth in the team standings while the women checked in at fourth.
Mitchell's David Still was the first runner to cross the finish line in the men's 8k event, besting the field of 53 racers. His time of 30:21 was eight seconds better than the next finisher, and the win gave him the second individual title of his career (2017 Mitchell Invitational). Mark Garceau also turned in a top-five finish for the Mariners, crossing the tape in 30:46 to place fourth overall.
In the women's 6k race, Paige Aguilar posted the top time for the Mariners (28:26) and finished 11th overall. Kate McCormack wasn't far behind at 28:46 at took 13th overall.
Mitchell will next run at the CCRI Tri-State Open on Saturday, September 29.
