Podium Pair Lead XC at USJ
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The Mitchell College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the annual Blue Jay Invitational on Friday afternoon, held on the campus of the University of Saint Joseph.
Both teams finished third overall in a field that included USJ, Dean College and Lasell College. Lasell won the women's 5k event while the host Blue Jays took the team title in the men's 5k event.
A pair of Mitchell women earned spots on the podium. Lara Jacobs posted a runner-up finish in a time of 22:30, finishing 25 seconds behind Lasell's Alyson Richard. Abigail Rasmussen was the next to cross the finish line, securing third place with a time of 23:48.
On the men's side, newcomer Liam Robb turned in Mitchell's top performance. His time of 19:42 was good enough for fourth place, giving the Mariners their first individual top-five finish of the season. John Mateo was the next to cross the tape, finishing 11th in 21:16.
Mitchell will next run at Elms College on Saturday, September 25 at 10 a.m.
