WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Mitchell College men's and women's cross
country teams competed at the 2009 ECAC Division III Championship
on Saturday at Mt. Greylock Regional High School.
The men's team finished 35th overall in the field of 43. Senior
Eric Appleby paced the Mariners with an 8-kilometer time of 29:40.4
to finish 126th overall. Junior John Hoffman was close behind at
30:09.3 and placed 155th overall. Also competing for the Mariners
were freshman Vernon Wilson (33:07.4, 249th), freshman Zach Hoch
(34:20.2, 267th), sophomore Brian Ziminsky (36:10.7, 279th) and
freshman Mike Brennan (38:38.5, 291st).
The women's team did not have enough runners for a team score.
Junior Brittany Smyth clocked in with a time of 27:29.5 over the
6-kilometer course, good enough to place 138th overall. Also
competing for the Mariners were junior Kailee Hyde (33:52.7,
262nd), sophomore Monica Gonzalez (35:27.2, 267th) and freshman
Morgan Kauffman (40:16.7, 272nd).
The ECAC Championship was the final event for the cross country
squads on the season.
